A few thoughts from my time in the Word December 1, 2018….
Love is the only thing in the world that never ends. People’s deepest desire is to be loved, to have someone care about and value a relationship with them not for what they can give, or what they have accomplished, but simply because of who they uniquely are. Loving leaders in the workplace, home, church, government, society are desired. We all want them.
Three things abide for the Christian (1 Corinthians 13:4-9, 13): faith, hope, and love. Hope may dwindle under oppression. Faith may be tried to its core through persecutions. But love, love cannot be oppressed or chained—a response of love heaps coals of fire upon its attacker (Proverbs 25:21-22, Romans 12:19-21). Love is the greatest of all as the Scripture says (1 Corinthians 13:13). Love keeps the conscience pure, undefiled, humble no matter what it’s bearer experiences. Love alone never fails (1 Corinthians 13:8a).
What a wonderful truth that is the Gospel! It was because of love that Christ was sent to save those who Believe (John 3:16).
